Well after waking up from my slumber on the train that was no where near as good as the first train we caught we finally got into Orlando 2 hours late at 1pm in the afternoon. This was the place where we would meet the first of Andrew's relative's, Scott so it was my turn to have the trouble of whenever someone said something with the name of Scott in it, both of us would turn around, at least back home when I was at baseball we had Ramjet and Alpha to separate us. Scott picked us up in this very lovely looking brand new Mercedes, fully decked out with a huge sound system, I liked the guy already. We did a quick tour of Orlando downtown around the sinkhole lakes and then dumped our stuff off at his house before heading out to Universal Studios nightlife, called City Walk, this was a night spot/eatery area where you can enter for free and just have a good time, plus it's easy walking distance to Universal. Here after not eating anything for the whole day we were treated to a drink called a Hurricane, it came in this huge cocktail glass (which were able to keep) and basically made of just alcoholic drinks. I managed to get through 3/4 of mine before the lack of food and the fact that it was going straight to my head and through my system that I had to give up, Andrew only got a 1/3 of the way through his. From here we went to a restaurant where I ate the nicest tasting baby back ribs to date, might have been all the alcohol, but all I could think about was that song in Austin Powers 2. From here we walked back to our valet parked Mercedes and went to Rosey O'grady's bars on Church street hoping to be in time for a show, unfortunately we were not but Andrew had some of the weakest tasting beer known to mankind, it was pathetic. We also just for Scott's sake had a Foster's but that was brewed in Canada so it was weak as usual too. Finally went home to unpack and get some sleep, we were off to Disney World tomorrow.
"I'm a going to Disney World!" we've all heard that phrase before, we'll I can say that I have done now both Disney world Magical Kingdoms in America. There is not much to write about this apart from the fact I had done most of it at Disney Land. The new rides were found in Tomorrow Land where we spent more of our time, especially on the Toy Story ride where you get laser guns and shoot the evil Emperor Zurg, swore enemy of the Galatic alliance, he is building an secret weapon to which I... know it's only weakness. opps sorry, stepped back into the movie there a bit but I just love it. What Zurg has actually done has stolen the batteries and you being a cute zelot fresh out of the academy have to retrieve the batteries from zurg's grasp. There was also a pretty cool alien transportation ride/show where an alien was transported and let loose breathing down your neck, splattering the blood of one of it's victums all over you. But then of course there was Space Mt. a roller coaster totally indoors and in the dark. Tonight's dinner was also on the Disney complex at Wilderness Lodge which was a resturant/hotel where we met with Scott and his girlfriend Becke who is a Volks Wagon saleswomen, even managing to out sale the guys because she's tested that being a blonde you sell more cars to guys cause they are stupid. A very lovely meal served, Butter's and I both had Buffalo, a rough meat but I'm sure it would of been a lot tougher if it wasn't cooked so well.
Back out to the Disney World complex, this time to EPCOT with Scott, he's such a regular customer out there that one of the bars in the place is his "drinking hole" where he comes after work and the guys at valet know him by name and have his car parked close, not bad I thought. We wandered round the technology part of the park first which included the showing of 3D Honey I shrunk the audience. We had got given tickets to the back entrance of the Test track ride which was opened early last year. this ride flies round a banked curve at one point doing around 120km/h. They were testing the ride for the day when we arrived at the ride, I jumped up on the ledge to watch for when they were starting to let people through and the second they opened the doors we raced through so we would be at the start of the line. We were first and second on this ride as the first time round which I recorded on Video, I later found out you weren't supposed to do that, the sounds weren't working properly so we got to go again. Scott's connections work wonders. Next we "toured the world" exhibits of the EPCOT park. We had some German beer in German land, watched some young Japanese performers work up on poles and trampolines like circus Oz, enjoyed Fish 'n' Chips in England, the first fish and chips store we had seen in ages. And watched a bit of country music in America land. we went back to England where Scott's bar was and watched a Card Magician do some pretty cool tricks as well as worked out how he did most of them. We alternated this with a Beatles impersonation group called the British Invasion. Both the Card player and one of the players in the band Scott knew well so we got to spend more time and priority seats from both people. We did this till 9pm when the celebration of the Millennium fireworks were on. They were great but no where near as good as Toronto. We went home now from here to rest for the next day.
Today work up early as we were all off to see the Kennedy Space Centre at Cape Canaveral. On the way there we had Breakfast in a Denny's restaurant, stupid move this was to do it in the heart of redneck country supposedly as the service and food were as slow as the thought patterns contained within their tiny head. After finally getting away from Denny's which by now it was now lunch time we made it to NASA and began the tour. Out at the observation deck we saw one of the 2 crawlers that take the shuttle out to the tower and out there at the tower was the shuttle Discovery waiting for launch on Feb 1st. From here we went to the Saturn V centre where they had movies of the first successful lift off of the updated Saturn V Apollo 8 and even the landing of Apollo 11. They also had a huge Saturn V rocket that was readied for Apollo 18 that ever eventuated. After this was the new International Space Centre with the modules and etc. being constructed, these things were huge and when the space station is completed we will be able to see it in our skies with our normal eyesight. Our tour over we headed back to Scott's place for the last time where he cooked a delicious meal of lemon soaked salmon and vegetables with rice. extremely nice meal. We packed and readied ourselves for the next move.
